Ukraine Mobile Teams meet with US Government Representative

On September 3, 2021, representatives of the US Government visited our Ukrainian Mobile Teams from the regions of Slovyansk and Kostiantynivka. The Mobile Teams provide social and psychological assistance to the survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.

The visit included David Schlaefer, Senior Assistance Coordinator of the United States to Ukraine and Head of the US Embassy Delegation to Ukraine, Deputy Coordinator of Assistance Rebecca Oliver, USAID Sustainability Adviser Marina Specht, and UNICEF Deputy Representative Fund Michaela Bauer.

In just four months of 2021, 12 mobile teams in Donetsk and Luhansk regions helped in 1,085 cases of domestic and gender-based violence, providing more than 11,000 consultations by phone or video link. 28% of outreach visits and offline meetings were provided for children. Among remote consultations: 13% of clients were under 18 years of age. Thereby compared to 2020, the share of children assisted by mobile teams increased by 19%( offline mode) and 63% (online mode).

Our 12 mobile teams of social and psychological assistance in the controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions are organized by HealthRight and in its local subsidiary, the Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health (UFPH), in partnership with the UN Children’s Fund UNICEF with financial support of the United States Government under the project ” Integrated response to issues of gender-based violence and violence against boys, girls, men and women in eastern area of Ukraine.”
