Program Assistant Intern, Human Rights Clinic

The Human Rights Clinic (HRC) is the U.S. program of HealthRight International, currently serving the New York metro area. The HRC recruits, trains, and deploys licensed health care professionals (e.g., physicians, psychologists, clinical social workers) to provide expert forensic evaluations, affidavits, and testimony on behalf of immigrant survivors of torture and other human rights abuses in their applications for immigration relief. The HRC project model also includes a follow-up case management component to connect survivors with needed resources in their communities. For the past 25 years, aspiring public health professionals have contributed to HealthRight’s work through engaging and experiential internship labs. We believe that offering meaningful internships is an investment that can have a substantive impact on HealthRight, the communities we serve, and the broader field of global health. HealthRight International and its local affiliate HealthRight Kenya empower marginalized communities to live healthy lives, with particular focus on four marginalized populations: mothers and infants; migrant populations, adolescents and sexual minorities.
