The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) recently published their technical brief COVID-19: A Gender Lens – Protecting sexual and reproductive health and rights, and promoting gender equality. The report, which assesses the different ways in which men and women are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, features a front page photo of HealthRight’s mobile teams in Ukraine. The mobile teams are implemented by the Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health (UFPH) and provide medical and social services to survivors of gender-based violence.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UFPH/UNFPA mobile teams have scaled up their remote services, including phone and on-line psychological and social counseling for clients, including group sessions. Since the quarantine in Ukraine began in mid-March, the number of remote sessions provided by the mobile teams has increased almost three-fold, many to help its beneficiaries deal with the added stressors of COVID-19.
