Last week, Portugal hosted the 17th European Public Health Conference in Lisbon under the theme “Sailing the Waves of European Public Health: Exploring the Sea of Innovation.” The event brought together global public health professionals to discuss scientific approaches to emerging health challenges.
HealthRight Ukraine participated in the conference, with Country Director Halyna Skipalska presenting key findings from the report “Strategies for Primary Healthcare in Ukraine: An Integrated Response to Gender-Based Violence.” Published in partnership with the WHO, the report provides a framework for addressing the 14% increase in GBV cases in Ukraine this year, alongside rising conflict-related sexual violence.
The presentation highlighted past and future strategies, including training family care providers to directly support survivors, and implementing an intersectoral approach to medical and psychological cases.
By sharing these insights, HealthRight Ukraine aims to inform global public health strategies and encourage the adaptation of effective GBV response models in other regions.
