In October 2016, Human Rights Clinic Director Lauren Pesso gave a presentation at the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting, Denver, CO. The presentation, entitled, Building Forensic and Follow-up Capacity of Healthcare Workers to Serve Unaccompanied Migrant Children, was part of one of the APHA’s Human Rights Forum sessions, and outlined some of the initial successes and challenges in training and deploying volunteer clinicians to serve unaccompanied and other vulnerable immigrant children, as well as opportunities for adapting the pilot in other areas with high concentrations of immigrant children in need of protection, relief and care.
