Position Title: Coordinator of Barnahus Centers in Ukraine

Terms of Employment: Full-time

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine

Period of Performance: 9 months contract with possible extension

The Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health (UFPH) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Barnahus Centers Coordinator in Ukraine for the project “Piloting of Barnahus model for the protection of children victims of violence” implemented with the financial support of UNICEF.

UFPH is an international charitable foundation established by a global health and human rights organization HealthRight International in 2008 to build local capacity for successful social support initiatives and ensure equitable access to health services for disadvantaged populations. Since 2005, HealthRight has been providing access to vital health and psychosocial services for vulnerable adults, adolescents, and children in Ukraine. Since 2011, UFPH and HealthRight have been implementing projects aimed at preventing and responding to gender-based and domestic violence and building local capacity of community CSOs and governments to expand services, improve accessibility and quality of social and rehabilitation services for violence survivors and perpetrators.

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project “Piloting of Barnahus model for the protection of children victims of violence” is implemented in Ukraine with the financial support of UNICEF. The project aims at introducing a Barnahus model in regions and cities of Ukraine to provide children who had suffered violence and their families with integrated services and improve criminal proceedings accordingly to the needs of children for both addressing tasks of criminal proceedings and avoiding re-victimization of abused children.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE: Pilot, advocate for, and support the operations of the Barnahus model in regions and cities of Ukraine as a point of single contact for providing children who had suffered violence and their families with integrated services: counseling, psychological support, including emergency psychological aid, legal information, and medical examination.

  

Position Overview

The Coordinator of Barnahus centers in Ukraine is responsible for the creation and overall coordination of Barnahus centers in pilot regions and cities of Ukraine in line with standards and the best practices of UFPH and HealthRight; coordination of legal acts development, including regulations for Barnahus centers operations; planning and conducting training activities for local service providers in pilot regions; implementation of project activities to institutionalize Barnahus centers; liaison with central and local governments, partner organizations and stakeholders; preparation/revision of implementation and financial plans; preparation of reports and recommendations based on the results of monitoring visits and data collected upon trainings, roundtables, and other advocacy activities. Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a relevant profession: law (preferred), social work, public health, public administration.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in implementing technical assistance projects with a focus on assistance to families, children, and women.
  • Experience in implementing projects in partnership with UN agencies.
  • Fluency in English is preferred.
