Mia Xu is Program Associate Intern under Dr. Nawaraj Upadhaya. She is a graduate student at New York University working on a Master of Public Health concentrating in Global Health, and a certificate in Health and Human Rights. She received her undergraduate degree from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Global Public Health in 2020. She previously contributed to and published research in developing treatments to address stress-induced addiction relapse as well as developing strategies and programs to improve health communication. Mia’s work and research in trauma management programs while working on her undergraduate and graduate degrees really sparked her passion for bridging inequities in healthcare and society. She hopes to utilize her experiences in research and communications strategy to encourage marginalized communities around the world to create sustainable health solutions and help communities co-create human rights based health programs that encourage positive social and behavior change in both development and humanitarian contexts.
