Dorothy Kizza, PhD

Country Director – Peter C. Alderman Program for Global Mental Health, Uganda

Dorothy Kizza is a Country Director Peter C. Alderman Program for Global Mental Health – Uganda Office. She is a Clinical Psychologist by profession, holds a PhD in Health Sciences of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim Norway, a Msc. Clinical Psychology and a BA Social Sciences of Makerere University Kampala. She is a retired government civil servant after having served in the mental health field at National level for over 30 years. Apart from offering psychosocial interventions to the mentally sick, Dorothy has also helped to build capacity in mental health by training students at University level as well as at diploma and certificate levels. She also part of Uganda Team on three multiple international consortia focused on integrating mental health in non-specialized care in Uganda and is one of the Uganda trainers for the mental health Gap Action Programme Thus, her interests rotate around promoting mental health wellbeing of the individuals.
