Master Beauty Class with MAC AIDS Fund in Ukraine
On March 9, 2017 the MAC AIDS Fund together with HealthRight International and the Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health (UFPH) organized a charity event for pregnant women and mothers with young children in difficult living circumstances in Kyiv, Ukraine. Make-up artists of the M.A.C brand conducted a master class for young who are clients of the halfway house in Kyiv for disadvantaged pregnant girls and new mothers with children. The girls were looking forward to master class on make-up and professional beauty advice. Beauty experts from the M.A.C brand not only created an individual image for each client, but also gave advice about skin care, choosing cosmetics and products. Both make-up artists and clients admitted that the master-class helped the girls to feel more confident. Halfway house for disadvantaged women and girls with children in Kyiv has been operating since 2013. It provides residential and rehabilitation services to pregnant women and young mothers in difficult living circumstances caused by homelessness, displacement, risky behaviors or domestic violence. In 2016, 23 pregnant women and young mothers, as well as 21 children, received comprehensive social, psychological and legal assistance at the halfway house.
The event was part of the project “Access to HIV Prevention Services, Testing, Treatment for Most Vulnerable Women and Girls in Kyiv”, which is being implemented by the HealthRight International and the ICF “Ukrainian Fund for Public Health” with the financial support of MAC AIDS Fund. UFPH and HealthRight International have been working in Ukraine in the area of HIV prevention among girls and women, as well as at risk youth (street-involved, internally displaced, HIV-positive, victims of violence or in conflict with the law) for more than 10 years. In 2016, thanks to the project 331 girls and women were tested for HIV in Kyiv.
