In June 2021, Breakthrough ACTION launched the 10 Lives, 10 Stories, One Message competition to solicit compelling human-interest stories that demonstrate the power of social and behavior change (SBC) to improve reproductive health. A panel of judges composed of experts in SBC and reproductive health from USAID, FP2030, and Breakthrough ACTION selected ten winners among the plethora of submissions from around the globe. The chosen stories were turned into high-quality, professional communication materials to highlight their achievements.
HealthRight was selected for a top award, highlighting our community-based reproductive rights work in rural Kenya. In partnership with Population Services Kenya, over the past 3 years, HealthRight has been ensuring inclusive access to long-acting reversible contraception, especially for women with disabilities. The work HealthRight conducts does not just connect women with vital family planning services, but it strengthens the health care system to provide respectful care.
On December 15, 2021, Breakthrough ACTION held a showcase to debut the top 5 winning videos and 5 written briefs. Beverly Johnston, Chief of Policy, Evaluation, and Communication Division in USAID’s Office of Population and Reproductive Health, delivered opening remarks, and the videos were followed by panel discussions with the winners.
A HUGE congratulations to our HealthRight Kenya team for their dedication and well-deserved recognition! We are proud to partner with community members and health workers in West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties to expand equitable access to quality health systems for marginalized communities.
