I AM GPH

On the latest episode of NYU College of Global Public Health’s I AM GPH podcast, former director of HealthRight International’s Human Rights Clinic, Lauren Pesso, LMSW, MPA, talks about HRC. In this interview, Lauren discusses her work with asylum seekers and victims of torture, and provides resources for students who would like to get involved with health and human rights organizations around New York City.

Lauren Pesso has worked for over a decade to address the health and well-being of vulnerable populations in the United States and abroad. At NYU’s College of Global Public Health, she designed and teaches a course on migration, health, and human rights. Previously, she developed and oversaw the expansion of an anti- human trafficking program in New York, and has coordinated gender-based violence research studies and a variety of maternal and reproductive healthcare programs around the world. Lauren holds a Masters of Social Work (MSW) and a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from Columbia University, and a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Religion from Wesleyan University.
